I made a birth announcement today.  We've never actually mailed birth announcements before, but I like to make them anyway.  Enjoy the online version!

Tying On the Aprons Again

Grace loves watching cooking shows.  Today she wanted to watch a show called "Primal Grill", all about...well, grilling huge hunks of red meat.  Recipes fascinate her, and we love to bake together.  Today I was finally feeling up to getting back in the kitchen and making something from scratch, with a lot of ingredients, instead of napping.

Grace was there to help! We made Lemony Olive Oil Banana Bread with chocolate chips- the perfect solution if you happen to have four very very ripe bananas and some lemons lying around, like I did.  And olive oil in baked goods turned out to be pretty yummy.

Avery was born a little after midnight on a Sunday morning, and her big sisters came by to visit for the first time after they got home from church.

She's almost one week old!  I know it's hard to wait for more pictures of Avery and our adventures as a family of five for the first week...it's hard for me to wait to post them.  But somewhere between late-night awake sessions and two big sisters and...well, many of you have been there before.  The good news is that week one photos have been uploaded to the computer, and I even attempted a little photo shoot this morning.  That is, until Grace and Leah came bounding in from the garden :)  I haven't trained them as newborn session assistants yet, so we called it a day!  I do have one to share, though.  Enjoy her sweetness!
