Nurse April

Grace, my mom, and I went down to Liberty University Tuesday and Wednesday to attend my sister April's Ribbon Ceremony. All sophomore nursing students receive the blue ribbon to celebrate their accomplishments in getting to that point in the nursing program.

April gave us a tour of the Nuring Lab on campus, and we had a great time checking it out. Here is a picture of the high-tech dummies used to practice on:

My Dad requested lots of pictures of his girl in her nursing uniform and of the ceremony, so those are soon to come in a slideshow...

Jellystone

We enjoyed a fun and relaxing weekend camping trip with my former church, New Covenant, at Jellystone Park in Quarryville, PA.

There's nothing quite like "roughing it" with dozens of family and family in Christ! We weathered a little rain and fog on Saturday morning, but by the afternoon the sun was shining and we spent time fishing in Skunk Hollow Lake (provacative name, isn't it?), playing football and frisbie, going out for ice cream, building campfires, sharing a huge pot-luck meal, having good conversation, and worshipping together Sunday morning.

First Playdate!

Today Grace visited her friends Emma (2) and Brooke (2 mos.) while their mommies enjoyed some much-needed daytime adult interaction! I took theses pictures of Grace and Brooke while they played on the floor. Grace was mesmerized by Brooke's lovely silky hair!

We're off to the Lancaster area tomorrow afternoon for a camping trip with a large group from my old church. I'm looking forward to having plenty of subjects for some photography! The Deterdings will be back Sunday night...

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

New Lens

I bought a new 50 mm lens and tried it out on Grace when we visited my parents this weekend. As of this past Thursday, Grace is an offical self-supported sitter-upper! So her Pop Pop Wilson took her for her first car ride in the back yard. Jake the dog managed to sneak a curious sniff.

The lens is great! I'm looking forward to practicing with it some more this weekend during our last camping trip of the summer.

Today I ordered a new lens, which I am thrilled about! I can't wait to experiment with it. It might have made this shot work out...

Ducky

Go AACS!

Last night was Grace's first football game! We went to Broadneck High School to cheer on Annapolis Area Christian School's brand spankin' new football team as they took on Riverdale Baptist. Um, I won't bother to mention the score at half-time when we left to put Grace to bed (ouch!), but it's not all about winning anyway, right? No, it's all about showing off our little girl in her cute AACS bucket hat. We had random people taking our picture...no joke! Grace just grinned and kicked her feet faster at all the attention. Can you believe I neglected to take the camera along???

Peas

Tonight was the night. Grace had her first experience with a vegetable.

Her mom and dad had the video camera running, the camera close at hand, and were ready to capture a surprised and funny face.

Grace warmed up with her usual rice cereal, and then Mommy deftly slipped some peas onto the spoon. Peas into the mouth.....and then.......nothing. No reaction!!

Well, it seems like she doesn't mind peas.

I'll eat anything as long as it fills my belly!
