Project 365

I don't get around to posting on this blog as much as I'd like to, but I AM posting one photo every day for this entire year over on my special projects blog!  Most of the pictures feature our growing girls, so it's almost like a family update, right?  You can follow the project by clicking on the link below:

My three-month baby belly will be here soon, but for now, I thought you might enjoy some pictures of Jane.

Sometimes, after saying goodbye to Grace and Leah on school mornings, she finds the little backpack and asks me (not using actual words yet, though) to put it on her so that she looks just like her big sisters.

Leah, my Photographer

"The plumber always has leaky pipes," or so the saying goes.  This photographer doesn't have many photos of herself, or of her whole family together.

Yesterday my mini-photographer, Leah, took some steps in resolving that for me!  She held my very bulky and heavy camera up to her little face and snapped some pictures of Mama and Jane.  Yes, in these photos I have a hairstyle that is decidedly *not* styled, I don't have make-up on, and more than likely I have spit up all over my shoulder.

I love them!!!

Typing this through contractions...

I love a catchy title, don't you??

I'm not sure if this is false labor or the ever-elusive "real deal"... but regardless I'm happy to share that I'm almost caught up with Project 366 on my blog!

It's something that's on my extensive "to-do" list before baby arrives.  Head on over and get caught up if you'd like!  I'm off to put my feet up....

p.s. you may have not noticed that there is now a fun Poll on the side of the blog ------>  Vote boy or girl!

A Photo Every Day

I'm at it again!  I'll be posting a photo every day, highlighting the simple things in the life of our family.  In 2010 I managed to take 363... this year I'm hoping to do all 365 366. {Happy Leap Year!}

GULP

I didn't take a picture yesterday!!  That's the first time since May (when I forgot to take a picture of the day...at my photography workshop no less) that I haven't snapped a photo!  This means that my new project is official and all pressure is off to keep the photo-every-day thing going.

The new blog is up, I'll be posting my first week's photos on Saturday night.  This year I'm posting 52 times- every week- instead of 365 times.  Enjoy!  http://heathergracephotography.com/projects.

p.s. Here are the girls as newborns.  I really want a newborn again.  10- 12 weeks to go and counting...

2011

Happy 2011!

Many of you may have noticed that I've wrapped up my Project 365 (taking a photo every day for one year), and although I'm disappointed that I missed two days I'm really happy to have accomplished a Project 363 none the less.  Now I'm faced with having to decide what sort of photo project to begin in 2011-- I don't feel like I can stop!  Especially with our third kiddie, who is bound to be adorable, arriving and growing during this new year.  I plan on revealing my new project this Saturday, so stay tuned.

Baby and I are now in the third trimester and the nesting compulsion is in full swing around the house.  Any able-bodied man is welcome to come over and help move furniture!

We also have to wish Steve a very happy birthday and happy last year in his 20's.  We love him.

To celebrate, we had some of Steve's favorite cuisine:  we took him to Carlson's Donuts for breakfast, then went downtown to the jeweler's (that was more for me), had lunch at Subway, then feed leftover Doritos to "Mr. and Mrs. Mallard,"the ducks at City Dock.

The Picture I Just Posted

If you follow my Project 365 blog you may have noticed that some days have been skipped.  It's true that I did forget to take a picture a couple of times back in May, but more recently I've had to hide some of my pictures of the day until the right moment.

I think we're ready for that moment to arrive...

Here are some previously-hidden Photos of the Day that I posted on the blog today:

July 20. There's a subtle message in this one.

Today

Sometimes there are days when I take several photos that I like, and all are put in the running for "photo of the day".  Today was one such day.  I have to ask the love of my life to help me choose.  There was something about each of these photos from February 25th that I love, so I posted one on my Heather Grace Photography blog and posted the rest of them here....maybe you'll love one of the "rejected" photos better than the one Steve and I ending up choosing for Project 365.

I love this photo of Grace because it perfectly captured her mood today, it documents her current habit of choosing summer-time outfits to wear, and the lighting on her face made me happy (I can't help being technical).  It also shows the once-beautiful gardenia that I nearly killed and am trying to revive.  I wonder if it will make it to the end of my Project 365?

I love this photo of our friend because her hair looks so soft and whispy and her big eyes are shining so much.  She's sucking on the pacifier that she somehow manages to find whenever she comes over to play (don't worry, mom, I washed it!)

I love this photo of Leah and her friend (still with the pacifier!) because it highlights her amazing eyelashes as well as her particular way of pursing her lips when she's really concentrating on something.  Her daddy does the same exact thing.  In this case, the girls are playing a game on my iPod Touch.  I also love how they're sharing so nicely.

I love this photo because I love Leah's little toes, especially when they're peeking out from jeans.  Those toes won't stay so little much longer.

I love this photo because of the texture and "bokeh" (more technical photo-geek lingo).   It captures the deadness that is my yard, now that the snow is finally, slowly, melting away.  I haven't seen plants in a long time.

I love this photo, the official Photo of the Day here, because it makes me feel.  I feel joy, giggles, and love when I look at it.

Forty Days of Pictures

Today marks day 40 of my Project 365!

I'm liking it more and more as time goes on. Today's picture is impromptu story time with grandma. Steve's parents picked him up this morning so they could all go dig out his grandmother's driveway before the next 20 inches of snow hits Annapolis. When they returned, Grace and Leah had a book ready...click on the link to see!

Project 365~ Heather Grace Photography

I've decided to commit to taking one photo a day for the next year! I'm posting each day's picture over on my photography blog, which can be found here. These pictures will be personal in nature~ a little snapshot of the day-to-day things and a chance to get creative with my camera. It'll be a challenge to keep it up, but I'm so excited to do it!
