Anne Arundel County Fair

Grace's Grandpa and Grandma Deterding took us all to the County Fair last week.  Grace loves to point out sheep in her books and farm puzzle, so we were excited to introduce her to the real thing.  She said "baaa baaa" and was taken completely by surprise when the sheep "baaa-ed" back at her!  They were a little louder than she thought they'd be.

Looking at the pigs with Grandma.

Leah didn't see much at the Fair.

Chickens.
And the highlight of the evening-- pig and duck races!  The little porkers were moving so fast, Grace completely missed the first race, which was over in about 5 seconds.

Clapping for the racing pigs!

One Month Old

Happy one month birthday, Leah!  She is doing really well and is completely recovered from her hospital stay.  Leah is, most nights, a great sleeper and tolerates her big sister's affection without too much complaint!  Grace just loves to say hi to Leah ("Hi Ye-ahh!") and give her kisses.  Leah's favorite things these days are:  being held, eating, looking at the pillows in the living room.  Her least favorite things are:  being put down (this makes things difficult and noisy around here!), dirty diapers, and baths.

We are all really enjoying little Leah!

Grace is almost 18 months old.  Her favorite things these days are: Leah, dipping her food in any sort of condiment, making piles of rocks, zippers, pretending to talk on the phone, singing, giving kisses, saying bye bye to anything she is leaving behind, and making tents with blankets.
She also tries to take off her diaper every now and then:

bye bye!

Compare

Just for fun, let's compare Grace and Leah at 3 weeks.

Pardon the poor-quality, grainy images and instead focus on how cute they both are.  And yes, it looks like every Deterding child will experience infant acne and peely skin during the first weeks of life.  Better now than later, girls!

Leah Anne is pictured on top, Grace Olivia below.

Two more.

So what do you think?  Can you tell they are sisters?  Do any features look the same to you?  Will they have to deal with the question "Are you girls twins?" for the rest of their lives, or do you predict they'll look too different?
